Vietnam’s leading company to Invest in rice production in Cambodia

Phnom Penh – Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Yim Chhay Ly, Chairman of the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development, on Wednesday received visiting Mr. Nguyen Van Than, Chairman of Board of Directors of An Giang Plant Protection Joint Stock Company of Vietnam.

On the occasion, Mr. Nguyen Van Than said his company wished to invest in agricultural sector, especially rice production in Cambodia with its existent, precise, inclusive, and long-lasting perception and the provision of mutual benefits between the peoples of the two countries.

He added that his company would grow rice in Cambodia by using organic fertilizers to help gradually reduce the uses of chemical fertilizers and modern technology to increase rice yields as well as would transfer those advanced technology to Cambodian farmers.

For his part, H.E. Yim Chhay Ly expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese government and, especially Vietnamese companies for its potential investment in the agricultural sector, particularly the rice production in Cambodia, through which he said, it was in line with the policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia in exporting at least 1 million tons of rice by 2015.

He also supported the investment project of An Giang Plant Protection Joint Stock Company in rice production in Cambodia, underlining that the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development would help coordinate in implementing the investment project.
