TEHRAN - The Sudanese agriculture minister has said Iran will export $44 million worth of agricultural equipment to his country according to bilateral agreements.
Abdel-Halim al-Mutafi in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Sadeq Khalilian also called for the expansion of bilateral cooperation in all areas, particularly in the agricultural sector.
In October 2010, Khalilian announced that Iran plans to construct an agro-industrial complex in Sudan.
Iran also plans to produce wheat and sugar in Sudan and is ready to transfer its agricultural expertise to the African country, Khalilian added.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran and Sudan have common stances on major international issues and has called for the expansion of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the agricultural sector.
Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a meeting with Sudanese Agriculture Minister Abdel-Halim al-Mutafi in Tehran on Saturday.
The Iranian president called for the expansion of Tehran-Khartoum ties, which he described as friendly. He also noted that such relations help promote social welfare in both countries, Press TV reported
