South Korean PM to visit Bulgaria, Ukraine

Seoul, 18 September - Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik will visit Bulgaria and Ukraine later this month for talks on expanding business cooperation, his office said Sunday [18 September].

According to the Prime Minister's Office, Kim is set to visit the Bulgarian capital of Sofia from 26 to 28 September, and then Kiev, capital of Ukraine, from 28 to 30 September. He will meet the two countries' prime ministers and pay courtesy calls to their presidents, and also sit down with local business figures.

The office said Kim will look to discuss expanding South Korean companies' investments in the two nations and also increasing bilateral cooperation in agriculture and eco-friendly economic development.

It said during Kim's stay, Sofia will hold a business fair for Korean companies in Bulgaria, and Kiev will host a similar business forum for Korean businesses.

According to Kim's office, Bulgaria has much growth potential as South Korean firms' gateway into southeastern Europe, and Ukraine, boasting fertile farmlands and advanced aerospace technology, could grow into a viable partner for South Korea in agriculture and aerospace engineering.
