The Kuwait-Cambodia deal: The Cambodian government is currently negotiating a deal that to lease thousands of hectares of land to the Kuwaiti government – who will use it to produce rice for export back to Kuwait. 3D is extremely concerned about the potential negative consequences of this deal for the realization of the right to food in Cambodia and presented these worries during the recent session of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The Committee expressed concern about the Kuwait deal during its dialogue with the State party, and urged Cambodia to revise its land investment policies in the Concluding Observations from the session.
