10 Dec 09: AVA is pleased to announce the launch of a new Food Fund. The fund will be used to support Food Diversification and Food Capability Development.

AVA has set up this fund to enhance Singapore’s food supply resilience especially in rice, chicken, pork, fish, eggs and leafy vegetables. The purpose is to strengthen our strategies for food diversification and local farming to ensure a resilient supply of food for Singapore.

In the area of food capability development, the aim of the Fund is to maximise local farm productivity. AVA will co-fund research and development in local food farming technology, and the upgrading of the production capability of local farms.

Food Diversification

In the area of food diversification, AVA will co-fund feasibility studies on investments in overseas food zones, overseas contract farming and sourcing of rice, chicken, pork, fish, eggs and leafy vegetables from non-traditional sources or existing sources that are not major exporters to Singapore.
