Italy supports sustainable agriculture projects in Ghana
A Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of sustainable and modern agriculture projects in Ghana was signed at the Residence of the Italian Ambassador in Accra, by the Minister of Food and Agriculture of the Republic of Ghana, Eric Opoku, the Managing Director of BF International Best Fields Best Food Limited, Federico Vecchioni, and the President of BF Ghana Ltd, Georges Mikhael.
The BF Group, founded around Bonifiche Ferraresi S.p.A. Società Agricola which, with its 7,750 hectares, is the largest Italian farm by utilised agricultural area, has transformed itself from a traditional agricultural operator into a more evolved and innovative reality, capable of managing consumer-oriented farm production and offering technologically advanced goods and services to farmers.
Having consolidated its role as an infrastructure of excellence in Italy, the BF Group has embarked on a path of internationalisation to promote a replicable, scalable and traceable quality supply chain model.
The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Laura Ranalli, and the Ghanaian Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur. The objective of the protocol is to strengthen agri-food ecosystems in Ghana in partnership with the Italian private sector, establishing an equal public-private partnership under the Mattei Plan for Africa. The agreement is co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with BF International Best Fields Best Food Limited representing the private sector partner, while Ciheam Bari serves as the knowledge partner and implementing agency for the public component.
