African Food Security Supports Global Push for Female Entrepreneurs Through CWT Initiative

LAGOS, Nigeria – December 18, 2024 – As part of its ongoing mission to promote inclusive growth and sustainable development, African Food Security (AFS) proudly supported the Connecting One Million Women in Trade (CWT) event held in Ikoyi, Lagos. The initiative, which unites women from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas, focuses on empowering female entrepreneurs through business training, access to capital, and high-level networking.

The CWT program is designed to help women-led businesses move beyond operating in isolation. Through world-class business management programs and strategic partnerships, participants gain the tools to scale their ventures, identify new market opportunities, and secure the funding needed for long-term success.

Aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal #5, which champions gender equality, the CWT initiative is a powerful example of how the private sector can drive social change. The program aims to reach at least 100 business associations and cooperatives across 102 countries, making it one of the most ambitious empowerment projects targeting women in trade globally.

AFS, a leading agri-development company founded in Cameroon and incorporated in the United States, is proud to support efforts that reflect its values—economic growth, sustainability, and inclusion. Led by CEO Alan Kessler, African Food Security continues to champion initiatives that combine social impact with private sector strength.

AFS is focused on making Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo self-sufficient in maize production, improving cattle health, and boosting beef and dairy industries. Beyond staple crops, AFS is also investing in high-value agricultural products like cocoa, cassava, sorghum, and sesame. With a model rooted in climate-smart agriculture, skills transfer, and community development, AFS is redefining food security across Africa.
