Uzbek investors may receive farmland in Russia’s Irkutsk region for cattle breeding
Uzbek investors may be allocated agricultural land for cattle breeding in Russia’s Irkutsk region, according to statements made during a briefing on interregional cooperation.
The announcement was delivered by Viktor Tsishkovsky, Minister of Economic Development and Industry of the Irkutsk region. He shared that authorities are considering a proposal to provide land plots for livestock projects involving Uzbek investors.
Under the plan, agricultural products produced in the Irkutsk region could be supplied to local Russian markets as well as exported to Uzbekistan. Tsishkovsky noted that Uzbek businesses have expressed readiness to take part in such initiatives.
A roadmap has also been adopted within the framework of an agreement between the Irkutsk region and Andijan Region. The document outlines specific measures and implementation timelines. Key priorities include opening a Republican Trading House in the Irkutsk region and establishing a large fruit and vegetable logistics base.
Trade between the two regions remains diversified. The Irkutsk region exports timber, aluminum and IT solutions to Uzbekistan, while importing fruits and vegetables, equipment, containers and packaging materials.
The potential project follows a similar initiative reported in mid-April, when Uzbekistan reached an agreement with Belarus to lease 4,000 hectares of agricultural land for cattle breeding. The deal was concluded during a visit by a delegation from Kashkadarya Region.
