In the early hours of Tuesday 16th December 2025, Goshen Porche Ranch (Goshen Porche) had the honour of hosting the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, together with a delegation of 12 officers including Brigadier General E.K. Commey, for an extensive tour of the farm. They were warmly received by our Group CEO, Opeoluwa (Horpe) Omotayo-Ojo; Managing Director of Goshen Porche, Mr. Kofi N. Andah; Head of Research at the Group, Ruben Adzah and members of the technical team.
During the visit, the Group CEO and Managing Director shared the broader vision of Goshen Porche; one that extends beyond crop cultivation to the development of a fully integrated agro-industrial ecosystem.
The delegation toured the farm’s machinery maintenance hub, where they were introduced to our wide range of equipment that powers daily operations. These include high-horsepower tractors, pneumatic planters, a 2,300-litre self-propelled boom sprayer, a New Holland TC 5.9 combine harvester equipped with maize, soybean, and sorghum headers, fertilizer spreaders, heavy-duty harrows, robust planner, JCB backhoe, and other critical machinery.
The tour continued to the booster station, where the delegation observed our pressure-boosting systems that apply the required force to water drawn from our suction pumps located near the canal, our main irrigation intake point. This infrastructure supplies seven Zimmatic centre pivot systems, collectively irrigating 815 acres of grain fields under maize, soybean, and sorghum cultivation. A 30-minute drive across the expansive landscape further highlighted the scale of operations. At Pivot 7, the delegation received a detailed briefing on the operation of the Zimmatic centre pivot system, which rotates 360 degrees to irrigate 116 acres per cycle. They also observed five Valley centre pivot systems, one of which spans 160 acres, contributing to an additional 800 acres of irrigated grain fields.
A defining pillar of Goshen Porche’s success is its ability to cultivate crops throughout the year, enabled by its extensive irrigation network.
The delegation also visited our high-density mango plantation and our pilot agroforestry cocoa farm, both irrigated using precision drip irrigation systems.
The tour concluded at our two major pump stations: the suction pumps supplying the Zimmatic pivot network through the booster station, and the submersible pumps feeding the Valley pivots via 8km of underground HDPE pipelines.
At Goshen Porche, we remain committed to advancing food security in Ghana and Africa through climate-smart, youth-inclusive, mechanised large-scale crop cultivation.
