Opening ceremony for Bakkavor factory and farm

Chilled prepared foods manufacturer Bakkavor has officially opened a food processing factory and farm in China as it works to ramp up capacity in the region.

The factory and farm are located in China's eastern Fujian and Jiangsu provinces. The farm will provide a "significant proportion" of the group's produce needs, increasing Bakkavor's control over quality and safety.

"This investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the Asian market. The development of fresh prepared foods in China represents a fantastic opportunity for Bakkavor and we see a real, and growing, demand for our expertise," CEO Agust Gudmundsson said.

Bakkavor added the investment comes in response to the growing needs of a "key customer's rapid growth" in the country.
