Angola has agricultural potential in the UAE
The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, António Francisco de Assis, presented Wednesday (28), in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the agricultural potential and agribusiness opportunities existing in Angola, with a view to attracting new investment of Arab businessmen.
According to a press release from the Embassy of Angola in the UAE, sent this Thursday to press the demonstration of business opportunities in the agricultural sector was made during the meetings that the Angolan official held with Arab investors, within the scope of the cooperation protocol and existing relations with this country in the Middle East.
On the occasion, the minister also presented the Angolan Government’s projects aimed at the cultivation of agricultural products on a large scale, with greater emphasis on the production of grains and fruit growing, their processing, export and the inclusion of rural communities in the entire supply chain. production.
António Francisco de Assis, who is on a working visit from December 28, 2022 to January 3, 2023, to the UAE, had his first meetings with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company IHC (International Humanitarian City), Mohamed Al Dhaheri, and with the head of the Al Dahra Group, Sulaiman Rashed Al Nuaimi.
IHC is a global hub based in Dubai, while Al Dahra Group is a leading multinational agribusiness specializing in the cultivation and marketing of animal feed and essential foodstuffs such as rice, fruits and vegetables, operating in over 20 countries and more from 45 markets in Asia and the Middle East.
Also last Wednesday, the Angolan official met with the head of Elite Agro Group, Chandra Singh, a center of excellence focused on quality in agricultural practices and agricultural certifications, created in 2010 and recognized throughout the region as a of the main local producers and distributors of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Angola and the United Arab Emirates have four memorandums signed at the end of December 2021, during the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to this country.
From this range, the Memorandum of Understanding between PRESIGHT and the Government of the Republic of Angola stands out, which aims to implement the Digital Transformation Program (Digital Angola 2024), the Memorandum between EDGE for cooperation and exploration of opportunities in the most varied sectors.
Additionally, there is also the Memorandum for Cooperation in the Transport Sector and the Memorandum for Cooperation between MASDAR (Abu Dhabi Energy Company) and the Ministry of Energy and Water (MINEA), aimed at exploring the possibility of implementing a program of solar energy and energy storage.
At the time of the Angolan Head of State’s visit, several businessmen from the United Arab Emirates linked to agriculture had expressed, in Abu Dhabi, their interest in establishing partnerships with their Angolan counterparts and investing in Angola in the production of avocados and Arabica coffee.
