Farmers protest at ANZ Bank against land grabs

A small demonstration was held at a branch of the ANZ Royal Bank in Phnom Penh on Wednesday, October 1, to protest against the bank’s financing of sugar plantations. Protesters claim that the sugar plantations were responsible for evicting small farmers from their land. The bank has refused to offer the farmers any assistance, according to reports. The branch was forced to close because of the protest. Credit: Facebook/Sam Rainsy
