The world's biggest cotton certification scheme is giving the green light to clothes made from cotton farmed on mega estates ‘plundering’ the Cerrado.

The Mount Kei project seeks to reforest degraded lands in Uganda with a mix of teak on 18,000 hectares and indigenous tree species on 20,000 hectares. The teak will be harvested for construction material, while the rest of the project will generate carbon credits.

Fabián Martínez, integrante del Movimiento Campesino de Santiago del Estero Vía Campesina, fue asesinado el viernes 5 de abril en el paraje San Francisco, en el noreste provincial de Argentina. El crimen sucedió luego de que una banda armada usurpara tierras de uso comunitario. Es el cuarto campesino asesinado en los últimos años, siempre en el marco de conflictos entre empresarios del agro y comunidades campesinas e indígenas por la tenencia de los territorios.
