It appears many farmers in Africa have Georgia on their minds. More than sixty have applied to make the journey across the world to farm in the former Soviet Republic with the promise of cheap freehold government land. The Transvaal Agricultural Union, which is backing the move to Georgia, believes as many as a thousand skilled South African farmers could go to plough their own furrow in Georgia, a potential loss of farming skills for Africa.
