Ukraine to realize large-scale grain supplies to the United Arab Emirates

Further to the visit of Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Ukraine on January 31 – February 3, 2011, the official delegation from the United Arab Emirates, authorized to negotiate on the issues of grain exports and cooperation in the sphere of agro-industrial complex, comes to the country. Investment to the Ukrainian agrarian sector, large-scale purchasing of agricultural products and assets are the main targets of the delegation visit.


On January 31, the Business center “Ukraine – Middle East” organized meeting of Ilias Assimakopoulos, the General Director of Agthia company, with Nikholay Prysiazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Alexander Lavrinchuk, the General Director of the State Food-Grain Corporation of Ukraine, and Sergey Svyatko, the Chairman of the State enterprise Zemelniy Fond.


As a reminder, in November 2010, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the director of the Investment administration of Abu Dhabi, the younger brother of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the current president of the United Arab Emirates, chief of the office of Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, member of the Executive Council (Government) of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, visited Ukraine. He had the meeting with Viktor Yanukovych, the president of Ukraine, and Nikholay Azarov, the Prime-Minister, and reached agreement about the further strategic cooperation of both countries in the sphere of agro-industrial complex.

The Business center “Ukraine – Middle East” was founded by Pavel Klymets, Deputy of the Verhovna Rada of Ukraine, in 2009. The center activity concentrates on promotion of the commodities, produced by Ukrainian enterprises, searching of investors in the Middle East countries (Saudi Arabia, Oman, Quatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq and Iran) and organization of joint events: business-forums, conferences and etc. The center has two offices – the central one in Kiev, and the representative office in Dubai (the United Arab Emirates). The representative office also has the acting exposition – exhibition of Ukrainian commodities.
