Minister of Agriculture will gather 20 prospective cattle farm investors

Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman will gather prospective investor cattle farm in the Ministry of Agriculture tomorrow Friday, September 18, 2015. A meeting with potential cattle farm investors is to discuss the problems and obstacles faced, for example about the land. The ministry is ready to assist so that the cattle farm construction can be realized.

“We want to know from investors prospective, what is the problem. For example the land, what are the constraints, we will help to solve. Tomorrow (Friday, 18/9) will be discussed,” said Amran, after a coordination meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture Office, Jakarta, Thursday (17/9).

Amran said, there are 20 potential investors who will be present tomorrow. The number of applicants in cattle farms investment has increased compared to last July. Three months ago, the new prospective investors amounted to 9, now has about 20 candidates.

“There are 20 potential investors that we invite tomorrow. Initially there were 9, earlier reports there are 20,” he said.

Earlier, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture for Investment Sector Syukur Iwantoro said Brazilian investors currently building a cattle farm of 3,000 hectares in the eastern part of Sumba Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Targeted, infrastructure development was completed in December this year. For the initial stage, these farms will breed 3,000 cows’ sires.

“In East Sumba 3.000 ha cattle farm is under construction, investors from Brazil. Now it’s in the process of infrastructure development. The capacity is approximately 3.000 cows. This could be unveiled in December. Most cows’ sires from Australia, but investors from Brazil,” said Syukur.

Besides the Brazilian investors, continued Amran, some Australian companies have also signed investment commitments in the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) to establish a cattle farm.

Principle licenses to investors from Australia has been granted, are now being sought land in Sulawesi.

“Some Australian companies have already signed an investment commitment to BKPM. Principle lincenses already out. The land sought in Sulawesi. Being discussed also about the license with the relevant ministries,” he said.

He said not only in Sulawesi, Australian investors are also interested in building an integrated cattle farm with oil palm plantations (palm-cattle integration) in Lampung.
